Wills, Probate & Tax Saving Strategies
Taylor Walton is one of the leaders in the northern Home Counties for Wills, Probate & Tax Saving Strategies. The department consists of four partners and an experienced team of support staff that between them have a wealth of experience in dealing with the large number of issues that can arrise when dealing with the estates of individuals.
Richard Crocker is the head of Taylor Walton's Private Client department and is supported by partners Alison Voyce, Alex Drake and Patrick Green. Richard, Alison, who is recognised by The Legal 500 as a leader in her field, Alex and Patrick all have personal followings and are increasingly in demand for their experience in dealing with areas of law that have become extremely complex in recent years. Biographies of these partners can be found to the right on this page
Key issues which we handle are:
- Contentious probate
- Court of Protection and elderly client work
- Estate administration, including farms and landed estates
- Inheritance tax (IHT)
- Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
- Powers of Attorney
- Lifetime and post death tax planning
- Philanthropy
- Trust formation and administration
- Will drafting
Needless to say, with this depth of experience, The Legal 500 ranks our Private Client department as one of three leading firms in the region. Recent instructions include:
- advising on the devolution of a double trust scheme within a family involving property transfers, to minimise pre-owned asset tax as well as inheritance tax
- tax planning advice through wills and lifetime trusts for different generations of a family involving the devolution of various family properties
- advising on the administration of a deceased person’s estate, consisting of residential and commercial property, farmland, and a failed double trust scheme
- advising the Partners of a family farm Partnership (being different generations of the same family) on issues concerning succession and lifetime gifts for tax-planning purposes
Each of these cases demonstrates our ability to deal with complex tax planning arrangements and family issues. The first three cases were specifically referred to the firm because of the team’s ability to deal with the complexities involved.
Our experience has shown that the majority of high-net-worth individuals are more concerned with preserving wealth than increasing it. If this applies to you and you want to secure the worth of valuable assets for future generations then please call either Richard or Alison for a discussion that will always be handled with the highest level of sensitivity.
In addition, the firm has a strong contentious probate unit.
As part of a full service firm, we have access to the firm's team of specialist business lawyers so we can advise on succession strategies that minimise tax liability. As a department we work closely with our colleagues in the firm's Employment, Family, Conveyancing, and Relocation departments to offer a holistic service for clients.
