Expertise:
Dermot is Managing Partner of Taylor Walton having previously been Head of Commercial Property, Real Estate and Development at Taylor Walton.
Whilst being Managing Partner and developing the firm's strategy, Dermot remains a very active deal doing Real Estate and Commercial Property Solicitor advising on and managing the Real Estate Portfolios of some of the firm's largest Real Estate clients such as the Chamberlain Group and Brook Street; clients who are active in the local and national property markets.
He offers specialist advice on a wide range of Real Estate and Landlord & Tenant related matters to Taylor Walton's extensive client base.
Dermot is a Graduate of Kings College, London and trained with Taylor Walton becoming Partner, Head of Commercial Property and currently Managing Partner.
Dermot finds himself working for clients in both the local property arena and nationally.
Recent deals have included leading the Taylor Walton Property Team in Stapleton’s (Tyre Services) Limited’s (a subsidiary of the Itochu Corporation of Japan) acquisition of Pirelli (UK)’s Retail Central Tyre and Exhaust Distribution business and network. The deal involved acquiring 56 sites nationally and carried challenging organisational, legal and environmental issues.
Dermot says it was pleasing that our clients commented that they:-
“Saw us as consistently coming up with creative solutions to complex issues”.
“The Taylor Walton team produced legal documentation and reports in an efficient and user-friendly manner”.
“They provided commercial and tailored advice to see the transaction through in a challenging environment”.
A deal like this is one of the many things we do well here at Taylor Walton and it was very satisfying to be involved in and leading such a large cross departmental team on such a complex piece of work.
Leisure:
Dermot's interests outside the office include spending time with his family (part-time unpaid taxi work), skiing, overseas travel, and community related activities coupled with a voracious appetite for history and current affairs.
